To the impressive Beliche Dam, a challenging ride from Café Velo (42km)
Discover the beautiful inland landscapes of the Eastern Algarve on a scenic ride starting at Café Velo in Vila Real de Santo António. From the coast we cycle towards the historic village of Castro Marim, where the scenery slowly changes into rolling hills, cork trees and wide open views. You climb and descend gentle hills while enjoying the peaceful countryside.
Along the way we reach the impressive Beliche Dam, a large reservoir surrounded by quiet hills and nature. We can also stop at the hidden lake of Botelhas, a peaceful and little-known spot that many visitors to the region never discover. It’s the perfect place to experience the authentic Algarve landscape — wild, green and wonderfully tranquil.
On the return ride we pass through the salt marshes of the Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Marsh Natural Reserve. This protected wetland is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, and with a bit of luck you may spot storks, flamingos and other rare bird species. A beautiful ending to an unforgettable adventure through one of the Algarve’s most scenic natural areas.
